I just bought a Nikon R10 Super 8 camera and am having a problem with the lens. I can only focus when I zoom all the way in. When I zoom out, everything is out of focus. I try adjusting the eyesight adjustment but it doesn't help. I took it to a photo store, they assumed that it was because the lens internal glasses are not in proper order when the previous owner cleaned them. They said they could reassemble them if I had the diagram. I searched on the web and couldn't find the diagram. Do you know where I can find it? Do you think the photo store is right? Any idea what's wrong with the camera? Thanks a lot in advance. |

Someone told me it was probably because the lens got stuck on macro mode. He's probably right because on the zoom ring, it's on macro mode (with red numbers uncovered) and I can't slide the zoom ring back to normal mode (red number will be covered and white numbers will be covered). Is there a simple way to fix this yourself? I'm not a camera mechanic, though. Thanks. |

Sorry, I meant the red numbers (macro mode) will be covered and white numbers (normal mode) will be UNCOVERED.

I have a feeling, that the position of the focus ring and the zoom ring are critical when you try and shift on/off the macro setting. This is because the zoom optical cell is what alters the macro focus. So for a start, make sure that focus is locked at infinity and then try moving the macro ring when it is at min or max macro focus - it may move at the min or max setting, but not both. If focus is not at infinity, is main focus locked at min focus? If so try the same procedure with the macro ring as outlined above. Sorry I cannot be precise about this Nikon lens. I am using the Canon 35/105 macro zoom method of operation, as a guide to perhaps solving your problem. As for the store diagnosis, whilst wrong assembly of the optical elements will prevent proper focus, I seriously doubt they have any real knowledge of the problem. |

Thanks for your advice. I finally managed to release the macro slider by keeping putting gentle pressure on it. It took some time, though. |
