My collection is growing and I'd like to keep some of my cameras in my display case, and others in boxes stored in a cabinet. Boxes would give me the ability to stack the cameras freeing up room for more cameras :-)
Any recommendations for a supplier of boxes that would fit 35mm cameras. Its true some cameras are larger than others , but just a generic size cardboard box that would fit most/all 35mm cameras would be fine. |

I used to use cardboard boxes to store my less-used cameras, but cardboard boxes are not particularly durable, and I like to store my cameras and lenses with silica gel bags. I don't know where you live, so I'm not sure about availability, but I used plastic boxes from the range Really Useful Boxes. They are rigid plastic, in a range of sizes, with lids held on by swinging clips at the end sides. They're also stackable. I just put the camera into the appropriately sized box, pop in a silica gel bag (checked monthly), and know that the cameras are well protected. I choose the translucent white boxes, so that I can easily see what's in them. Such boxes are also better for transporting them than cardboard boxes. |

Plastic boxes are an interesting idea, but even with silica gel (which I'd consider essential in any box that has a decent seal), I'd still be worried about chemicals from plastic manufacturing outgassing onto my lenses. It depends on the plastic whether there would be a problem or not. There are some stiff cardboard filing boxes I've seen in craft stores that I'd feel more comfortable with. Or my camera bags. I seem to get a new one with each camera I buy. Usually are nylon and partitioned. I have one leather bag, too. |

Cardboard boxes work well in conjunction with zip lock bags n silica packets. The box will have no influence on teh camera since it is stored in a sealed bag in it's own envronment.
I like the plastic box idea, they will be more sturdy n you can also see inside without opening em up. But I'd still put the camera in a zip lock bag n silica. |
