I have tried everything to remove the residue from peel and stick Velcro from a Crown Graphic i recently purchased. Goo-gone doesn't work, film cleaner doesn't work, blow drying it to warm it up doesn't work, water doesn't work, Pec-12 doesn't work. Scraping has managed to get some off. I obviously don't want to ruin the leatherette. Any ideas? |

Might try some lighter fluid... Just don't smoke when you're doing it. Marty |

Goof-Off might work, but I don't recommend it, as it is a petroleum product and might damage leatherette. There's another Goof-Off in a spray bottle that's not the same, but it usually is not as effective, either. |

You should try an alcohol, ethyl or isopropyl alcohol may soften the adhesive enough to allow you to rub the goo from the leatherette. One method of positioning modern stick on vinyl coverings, is to soften the adhesive with isopropyl alcohol before positioning on the camera. This gives some 'give' whilst positioning, but unlike the traditional 'lick' method the covering is lightly held by the adhesive. So alcohol should soften your goo, however make sure that the product you use is the pure alcohol. Some industrial alcohol products can contain ketones, which will ruin your leatherette. |
