I'm having trouble shifting the retaining screw that sits under the glued-on thin aluminium decorator disc on top of the wind arm. It just won't move, all the guides say this in RH thread, did Olympus make any with a LH thread? |

No, it's a right hand thread, as far as I've ever seen. |

Thanks Rick, I eventually managed to unscrew it after applying a soldering iron for about 5 minutes to the screw top. The heat broke the bond of some minor corrosion on the thread, RH. |

I wish that I had known the soldering iron trick before. I spent days trying to undo a screw on the front of my Nikon F all the time fearing that it would get so chewed up that it would never unscrew and that I would have to resort to drilling it out. Past experience has shown me that that it is never really satisfactory. I still have a problem with a stuck filter but am reluctant to try all the extreme methods that have been suggested as failure would result in the destruction of my favourite camera, a Fuji GW690. |

Where male threads seem to be the culprit may I suggest trying first cooling rather than heating. I've had good experiencies using an ice cube directly from the fridge. |
