Unless you have acquired a truly unique and oustanding specimen, the chances are that the reflex mirror on such a vintage camera will not clean and restore. As you probably know, the mirror is surface-silvered to avoid optical refractions and focusing errors. The mirror is very easy to remove. Here in Australia most decent glass merchant/artisans carry inventory of surface silvered glass (which they procure from the United States) and in various thicknesses. I would suggest that for your supplier you vernier the original glass thickness and make a paper template of its exact shape. Shouldn't be a problem. Hope this helps |
