Hi,
I have a Canon S3IS which has a small scratch on the lens. During the process of tryting to remove this (which I should have left alone) I made the area foggy with the scratch removing compound (Peek) I was using. Is there anything I can use to remove this fog. The scratch really isn't a big problem....... now.

There is nothing you can do as you have damaged the lens coating. Never, I repeat never try and remove scratches on optical surfaces, it is impossible. If a scratch or surface defect causes obvious lens flare or other 'marks' on the image, the correct way of dealing with it is to fill the scratch with matt black paint. This dodge works quite well for the odd small defect; however, the best advice is to leave well alone unless you know what you are doing. In most cases the resulting 'repair' will be worse than the original scratch. |

Thanks Glen. I kind of figured that I had done something wrong. Since the lens is ruined, I was hoping that someone might have some ideas as to how I 'might' be able to salvage it.
