I have an Olympus 35 RC I've been using for about a year. All functions seem to work, but I've recently noticed that there is a piece of glass (I think) that has come loose behind the corrugated plastic of the light meter, and is sliding around. Any idea if this is going to affect operation? Any idea how to fix it? |

In the Oly 35 RC the light meter is under the bottom cover of the camera on the right. The moving part behind the corrugated plasic rectangle is only the indicator needle of a rather complex mechanism. If there is any glass chip visible or whatever you have to remove the top cap for inspection. A search through the archives is fruitful, I guess, to find out how this is done. |

I pulled it apart using one of Rick Oleson's diagrams. There's a small rectangular piece of glass that was adhered to the back of the opaque corrugated plastic covering the indicator needle. Looks like the glue around the edges just got old and let loose. |

If it comes loose, it will eventually fall into someplace it's not supposed to be, and at that point it may cause a problem. I'm guessing that the piece you're talking about would be the cover glass for the right-hand rangefinder window, but I'm not sure. If it was mine, I would try to get it stuck back in place before it wanders off. |

done and done. you're right, rick. it was that piece of glass in the rangefinder window. nothing a little adhesive and 20 minutes time couldn't fix. thanks for weighing in. cheers! |
