Hello again all, I had such luck with the other repair questions that I think I'll ask about my pretty Zeiss Ikon Contaflex IV. It's in great shape, very beautiful. The meter works still, though I can't vouch for it's accuracy. I bought it believing it to be a working camera. I tried dry firing it a few times and an obvious issue came up: The aperture blades don't stop down. When I wind the winding knob, the mirror comes down and the aperture blades clear out of the way, but then when I release the shutter the blades are slow and they don't completely form the right aperture. I can also hear a "whirring" sound sometimes, and also another sound that sounds like the self timer ticking down. I've read online that fixing these cameras are expensive and sometimes impossible. If anyone has any info or anything to share or even experience the same issue, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Thanks! |

You can check what I know about Contaflex shutters here. Not sure how much help it will be though. |

Thanks Monopix! It looks way too complicated for me.. But it's very informative. |

Hey Monopix, I have a Contaflex IV with sticky slow shutter speeds. I think I'm gonna tackle that shutter with the help of your site. Thanks for the info! |
