Hello all, have got Ricoh XR-P which lights up meter when turned on. Meter reacts to light. When pressing release button, meter dims off and if listening carefully, silent ticking noise inside body can be heard. After releasing button meter lights on again. Thank you in advance for hints and and solutions. |

Some mechanical blockage appeared there. Also one spring has come off the end of lever - had to remove plastic cover around lens mount to put it back. Electronics work, shutter fires. Now I have to solve intermittent winding problem. Sometimes advancing charges shutter, sometimes - not. Have already seen similar post on Net, I suspect this has something to do with XR-P's ME feature. At least ME lever doesn't return when charging shutter, as it should. |

On ME lever - in fact, it has two positions - first at 30° serves to charge shutter once and then exit ME mode. Another (move lever until max left) disengages winding until level is moved by user back to OFF position. So not returning lever itself isn't a problem. After working advance lever for tens of times, things start to improve. Most probably coupling mechanism is sticky after years of non-use. If it starts to work reliably I'll skip disassembly and rather take pics. Hope this may help to someone dealing with similar issues. If you don't need TTL flash, go for XR-20sp (aka XR-30sp) - no weak point in winding department and ON-OFF switch is faster to use (that's where XR-P has mode selector). Unless you need interval based shooting |
