I just found what I hope to be the last light leak in my Mamiya Press camera. I thought it'd be a good idea to document it here, because I have not been able to find much information online about this issue. (for reference, mine is a Mamiya Standard 23). The light leaked in around the lens release button just below and to the side from the lens mount. After I unscrewed the button it became clear that there once was some foam around its stem but that had long disintegrated and just left a little bit of black goo behind. Since I did not want to completely take the front of the camera off, I simply cut a couple of pieces of black felt to size (circular and slightly larger in diameter than the release button), poked a hole in them and stuck the button's stem through them. Then I screwed it back in. The release button is now a slight bit harder to move but I think the light leak is fixed. Now it's time to run some slide film through this camera... |
