Anyone have any tips on removing the speed dial from a Pentax Spotmatic? I've tried but can't get the little "screw" with the two holes to budge.

It's a regular right-hand thread, counterclockwise to remove. If tweezer points don't have enough power to turn it, try grinding the points of a needle-nose plier to fit the holes. Do not remove the set screws from the side of the knob.

Why? What will happen? I have to transplant the entire speed dial from one Spotmatic (jammed) to another (works but dead meter).

Or, if someone wants them, I would just as well sell the pair of Spotmatics and not gain the experience.

The set screws hold 2 parts of the knob together, it all comes off as one piece. If you remove them, you'll just have more stuff to put back together, no crisis either way. But it's the spanner screw on top, not the set screws on the sides, that releases it.
