Hello Guys, I'm new to this forum. I read a lot of here while I was repairing my Konica S2, so I hope you can help me with my problem with my "new" Leica M3. Thanks in forward and best regards cweg That's my problem: 2nd curtain of my M3 doesn't close completely. Today after 35 Pics the Advancelever cocked at half way. I thought the film was at its end, opened up the M3 and saw the second curtain half way open. Hmm, by dipping carefully with my fingertip the curtain closed completely. After trying out with several times the curtain stays more or less times half open. The slower the time, the less it stayed open, the faster the time it stays open more often. Everytime the curtain stayed open a little dip with the fingertip brought it to the right position. When the Camera is closed a little hit on the top and the curtain closes. In faster times the curtain closes some times in time difference. Any ideas for this problem? Any solutions for fixing it? Please help me |

the Leica M3 is not a DIY camera. among other things, it was made intentionally difficult to open, with a seal over one screw and special tools needed for some of the bits on top. you probably just have a film chip gone astray in the gears, but I'm afraid you're going to have to ask someone else to remove it for you. |

Thanks for your answers. I think I better spend some money for a CLA than damage something while selfrepairing. I shuttered the M3 several times at all speeds and I feel that the Problem is less often, perhaps it was in "Sleep" and not often used for a time before I bought it. Maybe the Luck is with me or the CLA will be with her :-) Thanks again for your helping. regards cweg |

After tightening up the second curtain springs a little the second curtain works fine. Today I got my Testroll back and some pics look like this. The first problem was solved easily so I’m looking forward to solve the next problem myself too before sending it to a CLA.
