What is the correct voltage for the battery for the Praktica's meter, 1.35V or 1.5V. I have two of them, both mint, and the voltage doesn't appear to make any difference. |

PX 625 1.35V or equivalent is the original quoted specification. |

I just use 1.5v Alkaline versions in my Prakticas (on the rare occasions that I actually get them out of their case), works good enough for me. |

I have a niggling feeling that some Praktica meter circuits are not voltage critical. I may be completely wrong though as I cannot seem to find the article that originally gave me the details, so perhaps I just misread the data contained in one of the articles I have already retrieved.
No doubt a Praktica expert will correct me if I am wrong. |

I read somewhere they have a bridge circuit which cancels out any variations in battery voltage. |

When I travel into Ukraine, Russia, etc., I will often carry my Praktica Super TL 1000, but with a Russian Helios 50MM F1.8 stop down lens, in place of my Zenit 122 with similar lens or the Helios 58MM F2 lens. I also have AF Canons and Minoltas, a manual Nikon and AF Nikon, but I would defy someone to tell the difference between pictures taken on the Praktica as compared with the others. The metering is right on, and the color and texture of the prints are exceptional, and I feel it's really getting back to the basics of photography. They do what they're designed to do, and do it well. Solid, all metal, durable and fun to shoot. I don't use mine all the time, but when I do, I come back satisfied with what I get about 90-95% of the time. I don't even get that with some of my AF SLRs, many of which go kaput at the least desirable time. I'm really sorry to see the Prakticas go. |

Yes the Praktica meters use a bridge circuit and they measure the differential current flow between the battery supplied current and the light sensitive resistor current. So small variations in voltage should not affect the reading. Please see Chris Dzombak thread on Photo.Net Classical Cameras Forum for details on tuning the meter. It si quite simple. |
