I have one of these cameras and would like to get into the back of the shutter. I would have thought removing the rear lens and then the lens retaining ring would allow the base and the shutter to be separated.
MG-1 Shutter mount
In this photo you can see what looks to be the shutter body retaining ring (the outer threaded cylinder with the 4 notches), but it just doesn't want to move. Is this the retaining ring, should it move? Or is it just very tight.

It's been years since I have done an MG (or even a TR-3) so I'm only guessing but yes, that is the retaining ring and it will unscrew!!~ Try tapping the ring with a punch or flat screwdriver, make a scribe mark so you can watch to see if it is moving. Keep tapping...it will loosen if you hve patience.
