Film advance jammed, shutter jammed. Anything obvious I can check? Nothing obviously jamming anything under the bottom plate - ie no foreign bodies. Could probably do with a clean. What's the best thing to flush out gunk with - not that I'm expecting a flush to effect a magic cure. All suggestions welcome |

The most obvious would be to check the batteries. If those are not ok the OM2 is dead as it is completely battery dependent. |

If only. Problem deeper than batteries. Seems like mechanical lock up. But where and how can I free it? |

I would check if the wind lock is on and, if it is, manually unlock it and try the film advance again. You'll probably find the problem is the shutter isn't releasing rather than a problem with the film advance. There are service manuals at http://olympus.dementia.org/Hardware/olympus_hw.html which should tell you what you need to know. |

When the batteries die, the OM-2n will also block all mechanical functions. Replace the batteries, and move the meter lever to "reset". I recently bought a OM-2n that was sold as "junk" and "totally jammed", and all it needed was this procedure. |
