Greetings from Spain, this is my first post, congratulations to all people and..... I... ask for help. I have received a fabulous Yashica Electro GSN. New battery and everything seems to work. But shooting in low light the camera began to make a "beep" that was "in crescendo" closes the shutter and silence ... What happens? Is this normal or simply one breakdown? Thanks in advance and pardon my bad English. |

Sounds like a self timer. By "closes the shutter" do you mean that it trips the shutter after the crescendo of beeps? If so, then it's definitely a self timer. (By the way, your bad English is way better than my bad espaņol!) |

Hello, this is the sequence: 1. Press the trigger. 2. Open the shutter a second (+ or -) of silence 3. Start the beep increases the beep sound more acute. 4. Close the shutter. End Sound |

OK, it's not a self timer; it's a very slow shutter speed. You did say you were shooting in low light, so this may be normal. Does the meter seem to be accurate otherwise (that is, shooting in brighter light)? There is probably an adjustment for the meter if it's off (but someone else will have to advise you on that). |

I have an Electro 35 GT that also makes a strange noise on long exposures (ie more than a second). If I remember correctly, it is more like a "whine" that increases in pitch just before the shutter closes. The camera seems to be operating fine, so I'm not too worried about it. |

It sounds as if it's a low-light/long-exposure alarm of some kind. Just how "smart" are these cameras? |

My Electro does the same thing on long exposures, just as Waynemel describes. It operates just fine. |

Hello, it appears that these sounds are normal. Also you discuss it in another forum and people think that is normal. I thought the camera was broken. I love this camera. I'm happy ... I took a walk this morning to Miss GSM with color film ... tomorrow it will develop ... I work at night ... We'll see ... |
