I'm looking for information about how to remove the shutter speed dial from a Praktica IV so that the top plate can be removed. Any advice would be appreciated. |

In my experience most cameras of that type have one or two small screws in the body of the knob holding it to the shaft. A set of instrument screwdrivers should provide one that fits. In fact such a set is just about essential for camera repairs |

Search the archive for information on this, could be under IV or FX2 model. Basically remove screw in the center of speed range dial/knob and remove knob, then you will see a slotted retainer which should be removed with a suitable tool - pair of needle nosed pliers etc or the correct driver with center of blade removed. Lift off shutter speed dial. |

Thanks everyone, sorry for the late acknowledgement, I got preoccupied with other repairs. Glenn, I've come to realise that custom-made - or custom-adapted - tools are a must for some of these situations. Rick, the diagram will be a great help - thanks. |
