Ok this is a first for me, maybe some of you have seen it. My 4 year old dropped the camera, nothing broken still works fine. Problem is the button that you press to focus and actually take the picture is missing. Must have popped off and dissapeared! I can take a small object like a staple and still take pictures. Can I buy a replacement button? And how and the heck do you install it! Thanks |

From the forum header: The Classic Camera Repair Forum is a get together for people who enjoy tinkering with old mechanical cameras, those no longer repaired by mainstream repair shops. Cameras from the 1970's and earlier, like the classic 30's thru 50's Retina style folders, 60's viewfinders and rangefinders and up to the great 70's SLR's. This is a hobbyist forum for tinkerers and collectors to meet and share experiences. This forum is moderated. Inappropriate and irrelevant posts are removed without notification. Please pay the highest respect to this forum as well as others. PLEASE DO NOT POST...questions unrelated to repair of cameras from the above mentioned camera eras; questions about modern P&S's (point and shoot), modern automatic cameras (if it's auto focus it's modern!); commercial-related material; and messages for instruction or repair/service manuals (see here for manuals). ESPECIALLY DO NOT POST questions about digital cameras. |

Even when inappropriate requests appear, some of us who have been on here a long time do try and be helpful! If it 'popped out' a replacement will no doubt just pop straight back in - where you get a replacement is another thing altogether. You have two options, contact your local Kodak repair agents or cobble up a repair yourself. As you can work camera with a staple why not fashion a replacement from a small piece of dowel and a pin (drawing pin?)? You can retain the item with a small piece of adhesive tape over the top, it will look a bit iffy but what the heck, it's free and the camera will work. |

Glenn, it isn't about questions being itself unanswerable. 1) The host has requested to behave, and put up some rules. Why not obey them? 2) The bunch hanging around here is mostly interested in other epoch, so not likely to be - across the crowd - competent in the field of modern digicams. Seeking help in a more appropriate list (I myself subscribe to some, albeit none english-speaking) will yield more answers (as to e.g. seeking spare parts or even having them handy). Marek |
