Hi, my Minolta Hi-matic 7s works fine (all mechanical parts are functional) except light meter. I saw that there's a few hi-matic specialist on this forum, but (tell me if I'm wrong) my problem haven't been describe here before.
When I bouhgt the camera, there was an old leaking battery in the battery cup (a 625, is it mercury cell ?). I cleaned this place and put a fesh new PX625 alkaline. And nothing happened.
I think maybe the wire (behind the battery cup) is corroded or even totally destroyed, but I don't know how to access this part of the camera.
The needle is up, in the red zone, and slightly move when I press the shutter button : I guess this is just a mechanical movement. But the needle can move freely, not stucked.
I disassembly the upper and base plate but can't find how to check the wire coming from battery.
Maybe I can also check the CDS cell... How can I do that ?
Except that the camera is in perfect condition, no gummed shutter blades, or wobbly lens. It's a nice camera, and I'll love to make it work again.
If anyone coul help me...

I found the solution and post it here if it can help anyone.
Remove the upper plate.
Peel off the leatherette near the lens (comes easily), then you can access 4 screws that maintain the lens board.
Remove it gently (be careful with the wiring) and you can access the main power wire (blue).
I completely change this blue wire.

It now works fine in both auto and manual mode. |
