Hello everyone, I recently acquired an Agfa Super Isolette for a great price. Overall the body is in good condition and the shutter/focusing mechanism works nicely including the slow shutter speeds. Unfortunately the film advance and film reminder dials are somewhat damaged and I was wondering if it is at all possible to replace the dials with a set from an Agfa Solinette as that would be a fairly easier solution vs. trying to find another Isolette/Super Speedex just for those parts. Would the dials on the Solinette work in terms of size and ease of installation? Any info would be greatly appreciated! |

HI, Agfa Solinette is a completely different animal... the gearing on the Super Isolette is almost duplicated on the Russian Iskra... BUT, even if you couild find an Iskra with a working film counter / advance, the chance of it working is next to almost none. Only solution is to disable the Super film transport geartrain and install a red window on the back door. |

Do you mean the dials are only cosmetically damaged? An advance dial from Iskra may fit, but will definitely look different. If you meant the inner mechanism then you may be interested in Hans Kerenky's explanations how it works: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29504544@N08/sets/72157622636222199/ ...or even what I did to it, on Iskra: http://snahvu.blogspot.com/2010/03/about-possibility-to-convert-iskra.html |
