Hey everyone. I'm in need of some help and I've found very little help elsewhere.
Scenario - I purchased a fungus ridden EF 70-210mm f/4 lens for $10. I clean and repair construction specific optics (Topcon, sokkia autolevels) and decided this was an oppurtunity to learn a little something about my most beloved hobby and side profession.
Success thus far - Removed and cleaned 2 rear-most elements (from mount). No etching!
Removed front element - Cleaned. No etching! Just two pieces to go!
Complete Halt - Beyond the front element there is a flush mounted one, smaller, that is surrounded by black aluminum with three small hole indentions around it. They appear to be spanner tool points, but I've never seen 3...only two. I tried, twice, counter-clockwise removal with a 2 point tool, but it slipped and scuffed the metal surface, so before I continue, I've got these questions:
Will a 2-point spanner work, or is this a placement for some other tool?
Is this lens removed clockwise of counter-clockwise?
Furthermore, am I even going about this the right way?
Please please advise if you can. I started this project thinking it was cool if I demolished it in the process as there is not that much to lose, but since I've gotten this far, I am less inclined to experiment as I've grown to care what happens! I uploaded a pic of what I'm speaking of below.
