Hello friends, Please look at the photo. From left to right you see : Retaining Ring, Element 1, then Element 2, then the lens cylinder. OK once the retaining ring is unscrewed both elements just slide out. Well .... on my lens ... only element 1 slides out. Element 2 is stuck beyond all belief. Any suggestions on how to get it out? |

For removing lens elements, I use a suction device. Vivitar parts department used to sell the "Lens Sucker" kit consisting of several sized suction cups and a bulb to remove air from the cups. Since I don't know of a source for them anymore, I have improvised with using suction cups from the home improvement stores that are used to hold up objects in the kitchen or bath. These cups are made in many sizes and the one shown in the photo below originally had a small hook on the end. Attaching the correct size suction cup to a lens element will allow you to pull it straight up or slightly wiggle it for removal. |

H: Brcamera, suggested a Lens Sucker tool. You could make up or adapt the MityVac pump for this or similar tool. http://www.mityvac.com/pages/products_hvpo.asp Harbor freight tools sells a similar tool also. You might have to adapt a few suction cups. Good Luck! THe Best Mike.... |
