I have a question about my OLY 35RD. When set on auto exposure, the aperture blades don't do anything until the shutter is pressed. At that point they stop down to the f stop indicated in the rangefinder. When set on manual, again the selected aperture doesn't happen until the shutter button is pressed. My question is this - is this normal? I ask because on my other rangefinder cameras, when I manually set the f stop, the aperture immediately goes to that setting. In fact, on bulb with the shutter depressed, I can rotate the aperture selector ring throughout its range and see the aperture blades moving to the corresponding aperture. Neither of these things happen on my 35 RD. So I'm either being dumb or my camera needs fixing. |

This is normal behaviour for these. You should see the needle in the viewfinder indicating the correct aperture. |

Thanks for this John S. I'm relatively new to old cameras - by which I mean, although I've got a few, and have had for years, I 'm new to trying to get them working again after years in the attic! So it's good to know nothing's broken with this one. |
