I just got this lens, in Minolta MF mount, that focuses from 1:5 to well past infinity. It should focus from 1:2 and stop at infinity on its focusing ring scale, and show the same in the viewfinder. The lenses' focusing ring distance scale reads "1:2" and "2 feet" when it is actually giving 1:5 through the viewfinder at about 3 feet. When its viewfinder focus is past infinity, as far as the lens will focus, it reads "1:3.5" and 3 feet. There is a filter ring ding, just enough to mess up mounting a 82mm filter, but I don't think it was a major blow. Sliding off the rubber focusing ring grip reveals a piece of tape that seems to mate two rings. This lens is otherwise in great condition, with a very sharp viewfinder image at f2.8. I got it for 50 dollars, but don't know if I should return it while I can. DIY? Any posted repair details? Any suggestions for a good lens repair person to check with? Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks! |
