While technically not a repair issue, is any one familiar with how the strap for a Vito B is attached. Did the strap in fact use a coupling device to attach it to the studs (similar to a Hasselblad) or was it simply attached by means of a slit in a leather strap. I've been unable to see any reference to straps in any Voigtlander literature. Thanks Martin |

I don't think that those cameras had any provision for straps.I have several Vito CL/CLRs and the bottom half of the case provided the attaching point for straps.I also have a few Bessamatics that do not have strap mounts either.Ron G |

I know exactly what you mean. There are two posts/buttons at each end of the camera that would be for a strap. I have the original box and manual for my Vito B and I don't think there is any mention of a strap. As Ron said, alot of cameras of this period required the use of the leather case if you wanted a strap. I have found that the strap from my Kowa Six works perfectly on the Vito (it may be similar to a Hasselblad strap). A strap with a slit in the end as you mention may be the easiest wat to go. |

Just to update...I checked my manual, and in the excessories list it does have a leather strap. I don't know if this refers to a replacement for the strap that comes with the case or not. There is no description or picture. |

Only a few Voigtländers came with provision for body straps, IIRC, only the Vitomatic I and the II, not supplied but as accesories. All the other cameras required you to use the half case to have a neck strap. BTW, some models came with a two piece strap, a short one (about 250 mm long) strap, and another part to lenghten it to about 650 mm. |

If your Vito II looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/3wgqg55 then the strap does not attach to it. The neck strap attaches to the ever-ready case, like this: http://tinyurl.com/3z5gyk8 |

Fallisphoto, the Vito B is a solid lens mount camera, as opposed to the folder Vito IIa you supplied a link to. It should have a couple of studs on either side of the body that will take a cut-slot strap, of which any manufacture will do. One can take a Yashica strap, remove the studs, and it makes a perfect substitute for the original Voigtlander model. Don't think you will find an original one in good condition after all these years, and there is not such a great call for them that anyone is making a replica. PF |
