Hi there, I recently bought the above lens but am worried the barrel doesn't turn fully. The focus mark points to minimum focus of 0.35m one extreme to almost 0.7 meters at the other extreme, so nowehere near infinity. On the other hand it seems like the lens is fully retracted at that point. Is this normal? Any help appreciated. D |

E: From your description, it does sound like you have a problem. Assumption that the camera body is not damaged & you have a lens that works correctly on it. Does the lens in question have any signs of being dropped or impact damage? If not than there may be something internally that is impeding the travel of the focus, which would require the dismantling & inspection of the workings. Or the grease on the threads has dried out & requires replacement. The Best Mike.... |

There are three tiny set screws around the focus ring. These secure the ring to the helicoid. Sometimes they loosen and allow the focus ring to slip on the helicoid, causing the problem you describe. Loosen the sets screws (don't remove them, they are a bear to put back in), and rotate the focus ring until infinity is at infinity. |
