I recently got a Contax RTS body, but a 6V battery doesn't fit into the battery compartment. The part that screws into the camera has about a 1 cm black protrusion that makes the 6V battery far too long. Has this camera been converted to use another type of battery, or am I just doing something wrong? |

My RTS uses a 6V lithium battery, and the screw-in cap does not have any extensions. |

Well the battery cover is silver which should have been my first clue. I guess someone just replaced it with the wrong cover at some point. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? Is there any difference between the RTS and RTS II covers? Thanks. |

The battery covers are the same one these cameras. The part you have is useful if you have winder - the winder can provide the power for the camera when the orignal battery cover is replaced with this part. Dirk |

Curious, does your cap look like this? This is my S2 - I didn't check the fit in the RTS, but this cap has short black extensions to hold two flat batteries rather than one long cylindrical battery.

If you have the original model RTS (mechanical clockwork delay timer) the battery used and the battery cover would be the same as the Yashica FR, FR I, FR II. The cover might be black or chrome, depending on the original finish of the camera, but they will interchange. I use alkaline 6v 4LR44 batteries which are 24.55mm in length. |

Here are some pictures, which may help to clarify the issue. The cover looks similar to the S2 that was posted, but the compartment is much deeper than that. |

Correct me I'm wrong but I believe this is actually the power adapter which is used when the RTS is used with the PMD W-6 motor drive. More info can be found at the following link: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/contax/shared/mdwinder/p mdw6/index1.htm#adaptor |

Thanks, I believe you are right. I wondered about the two metal prongs that stick out. |
