I just bought a Yashica Mat EM and it has no light seals. There is, however, some black fuzz that might be the remains of a fabric light seal strip. Then again, it could just be some crud that got trapped in there. Do light seals go in a Yashica Mat EM? If so, what kind and how thick? |

There is a yarn material used for light seals in my EM. It is on the hinged portion of the back and runs down the sides and around the bottom. There does not appear to be any across the top adjacent to the take up spool.
Mine is compressed pretty flat, but the film I have run through it has shown no indications of light leaks. |

I bought some OMC 25 #310 down at the Michael's Crafts store (or A.C. Moore if you have one of those). Works pretty good.

1. What is OMC 25 #310? Is that yarn, string, or foam?
2. I have an old kit from Jon Goodman with a few of his seal strips left. Would those work? |

OMC is a thread/yarn maker, and they number their products, thus the #310. It's a black thread much larger than what you normally sew clothes with, more of a craft type thread, and very inexpensive. It's about the right thickness for most door channels in old folder cameras, and may work good in the EM. You might have to double it up if the channel is fairly deep.
You could try the Goodman seals if you have enough of the material.
