Hi,
I have a problem with this camera's Color Skopar f3.5/50 lens... The rear element has what I first thought was fungus in it. I have taken the lens out and tried to clean it unsuccessfully... I am now wondering if this lens is two lenses glued together and they are separating. The problem area is about the shape of the boundery of France (l'Hexagon) and covers about half of the lens from one edge to beyond the middle.
To my eye, it does not seem to affect the photographs...

If this lens is uncleanable or unrepairable, I am hoping that someone will have a spare in thier scrap box that I can purchase.

Kind Regards,
Michael.

The FRONT of a Skopar is two elements glued together, but the rear element is just one lens. It is possible that your lens is cracked. I've seen that happen before, but only on lenses with plier marks on the metal surrounding the lens (usually these are center elements though). Apparently someone squeezed too hard. Sorry, but if it's cracked, the only thing you can do is get a new lens -- all four elements.

Hi,
Thanks for your prompt reply to my problem...
I have not been able to respond sooner because I wanted to try and get a picture on to the thread... Then I found out I needed to get some resize software.
However, to continue...
I guess you are right, and I would do better if I look for a donor camera.

I have got a picture here,...
This photo was taken looking through the lens from the front. Notice the shaded area around the outside edges of faulty area . I have taken the rear lens out and the problem is definitly on (or in) that one.
There is no evidence of previous removal.
A sheet of white paper was behind the lens and the yellow look must be to do with the taking of the photo.
There is no visible problem on photographs...

The Color-Skopar is a Tessar type so the rear lens (the lens closest to the film) consists of 2 elements kitted together.

You can find a lens diagram of a Color-Skopar here :

Chances are that there is indeed separation. In that case looking for a donor camera would probably be the cheapest option otherwise you have to completly separate the glass elements, clean them and glue them together again using optic glue which is a very specialised job.
