Hello!

I have a yashica lynx 5000 as well as a 14. On both cameras the aperture ring open and closes the diaphragm as it should but it does not click at each aperture. Can anyone tell me if this a normal feature of the lynx or is something broken?

In addition the shutter does not fire on any of them. I assume this could be due to a variety of things but as a starting point what could be the simplest and easiest to fix problem?

Many thanks for your inputs!

The Lynx usually does not work when you find them. Almost always it needs a shutter cleaning.

Just checked mine and it does not click between stops. I am running first roll through it now. Also waiting on batteries to see if meter works. Also just bought a Yashica EE tonight.

Thank you David!

Good to know. Perhaps the aperture ring does not "click" to accomodate the unsual aperture/speed coupling system of the lynx.

I never cleaned up shutter blades before. Do you use lighter fluid as it seems widely use?

Cheers

I use lighter fluid for cleaning. Use sparingly, I clean with q-tips for better control. You should check the light seals, mine were total crud. Good luck.
