Have recently moved house and in so doing I found my long-lost Pen FT which I have had since new (1969). I have 2 problems: 1.the battery cover is jammed tight. How best to remove cover without damaging? 2. Viewfinder also not sharp but lenses all seem fungus-free (in spite of years in tropics). May need advice on dismantling to clear focusing path. Any advice? |

In regards to your second problem, sometimes you can get dust or haze on the mirrors in the view finder path, between the focusing screen and the eye piece. The mirrors might need a _Careful_ cleaning. There are instructions on disassembling the Pen FT at http://olypedia.de/DEMO_an_PEN_FT. They are in German, but the photos are good. Look through the steps before you start. You do not need to start at step 1, just remove the self timer lever and the top plate. Watch out for the spring and part of the shutter release that have their own steps illustrating their removal. When cleaning the mirrors, be careful not to move them out of alignment. |

If the battery cover is on the bottom of the camera, then remove the entire bottom cover, and soak it in white vinegar. If the battery cover is on the back of the camera, then lay it on its front, put some cotton around the cover, and soak that with white vinegar so that it seeps into the threads of the cover. PF |
