Hi, I've just recently bought two Minolta XG-1s at a garage sale. I'm completely new to photography and thought that this might be a great way to get started - buy two not so well working cameras and try to fix at least one of them .
I'm stuck at figuring out how to open the top cover. I've unscrewed all the screws but can't open the cover because I don't know how to take off the shutter speed button and the film-advance lever.
Anyone who can help me just a little would be so great! Thanks.
Hi, I did not have to disassembly my XG-1 but from what I can see there is a disk on the winding lever that has twp slots. This should come off using a spanner wrench. Unfortunately I have no idea if it somes off clockwise or counter clockwise. You should find something underneath it to proceed. Shutter speed button: There is collar around the the shutter release button that has two slots. I think this will have to come off also using a spanner wrench. Also here I have no idea which direction it comes off. Sorry, not much, I know. Please note that I have no experience taking it apart - this is all just from what I can see on my camera.
