Inherited the lens mentioned in the subject line. The focus is stuck at infinity. When I try to focus closer, the ring turns a little bit then is slowly stopped. No grinding or roughness. Feels like I'm sinching a screw up against a piece of hard neoprene. Guessing a screw has backed out or something.
The telescoping hood prevents me from sliding off the focusing ring after removing the three tiny set screws under the rubber. I can't get to the helicoid therefore. Took it in to a shop and the guy was stumped too. He didn't know how to get that front hood off either.
So this is the problem: getting that front hood off. How do I do it? Do I remove the front element ring?
