I bought this camera yesterday which is in very good cosmetic condition. My problem with it is the uncoupled R/F button and focus adjustment are frozen. The R/F is on 4 and the lens is on 10 and neither will budge. Any ideas how to fix this? |

R/F is fixed, but the lens on the link is for the Agfa Apotar. I have the AGFA Solinar with the Synchro-Compur Shutter. I have the focus ring, f stop plate off and the shutter cover unlocked but it will not go past the lens. What do I need to do to get the lens off? Any help would be great..Thanks.. |

Do a search of this forum for "Agfa grease". I have found that a gentle heat works for me. |

At least you should remove the shutter/lens assy from the body. Then push the frontlens against a rubber mat and at the same time give the shutter a rotating force ccw.
Applying some heat with a hairdryer for some minutes could help soften the grease. |

I can vouch for the hairdryer. I have released a number of Agfa/Ansco lenses this way. The rubber mat is a good idea too. Make sure to clean out all that green hard grease once you have the lens free. Alcohol? I can't remember. You'll definitely need a dental pick or similar tool.

I took apart a Solinar on the Karat 36, which is mounted in a Synchro-Compur. You can see the teardown here http://flic.kr/s/aHsjyUvJs5
I know it's a different camera, but there are enough simularities to help you. Alcohol is definitely the best thing to clean the green out.

Thanks for all the help, hair dryer on medium at low speed for 5 min did the trick. Its like dark green tar. |

The gray version of that stuff is called JB Weld 
I used soaking in lighter fluid for 3 days, heat and hose clamps for grips, and still have sore hands from getting mine apart. |
