Hi, I wonder if anyone has any experience with this camera? Specifically accessing the shutter (stuck in the open position) and getting to the rangefinder (to give it a spring clean). I gather it is similar to a Ricoh 500G, but can't find many guides to that either. Bellow is a Flickr set of the camera with some of the stages of disassembly that I have carried out. http://www.flickr.com/photos/56275788@N08/sets/72157632670900858/ (the hyperlink doesn't work correctly as it stops at the @, so you may have to copy and paste it for it to work) |

Neat looking little camera, but I'm afraid I've never heard of it before. |

Years (or ages?) ago I got one in my hands, the shutter wasn't working. In many respects the camera is indeed similar to the Ricoh compact cameras (35 ZF, 500 G, etc) but where the Ricohs are quite sturdy the Supedex turned out to be an El Cheapo. When I realized this on dismantling it I had reached the point of no return, so never got it back together again. The camera got filed under FUBAR. Sometimes you've got to learn it the hard way. I hope that you repair attempt is a lot more successful than mine. |

Thanks, sorry to hear that. For a novice like me that doesn't bode well. I guess I will try flooding the shutter with lighter fluid as best I can to try and release it. If that fails and no one else has any suggestions I will take the plunge and search for a way in under the leatherette (hopefully without having to file it under F). |

I have now stripped it down to the shutter, which involved dismantling just about everything. Next I will give the blades a clean and try the minor job ;-) of reassembling it. Even with the photos I took of every step of the taking apart process, this is still a little daunting. I also have a bearing that I am unlikely to find a home for even if I manage the rest of the job. I will post more photos to the flickr set, whether successful or not! |

Cj, that is probably a detent for the aperture ring. It might sit in a hole with a coil spring at the bottom, or just a slot with a flat spring holding it in. Just look closely at the inside of the ring, or around the lens barrel, and you may see the spot where it goes. PF |
