I recently picked up a Nikon F with the F-36 drive, and have done a bit of work on them. http://flic.kr/s/aHsjEipWJZ

After some restoration of the battery pack, all I get from the motor drive is a click when I press the shutter release, and this is whether the drive is on the camera, or off. Any possibillities as to what the malfunction is? I did a search, but didn't see anything much about this drive. It's not the same problem John Liu had back in '05.

wonder if the click you hear is a relay going to the motor?have you tried to see if the motor runs?I have no experience on this unit just a minolta g winder it has a relay to the motor.

I'm thinking it's a relay, but without any guidance, I'm reluctant to tearing into the guts of the thing. No manuals, no posts about the same problem, or even someone who has torn one down and posted pictures. Just not a lot of info out there, Woof. I wish I had a cable to connect the battery pack while it's off camera, so I could tinker with it under power.

Posted twenty-three more photos to the link above after tearing into the drive itself. Sure would like to have some guidance on this.

More photos, and another video. The motor is alive! Well, at least when I jumper a 9v battery to it. Man, that battery got hot. The diode checks out too. I cleaned some more contacts (the ones on the exposure counter) as I got to them, and put it slightly back together. Still no working. But I'm starting to understand what some of the levers do.

that is good news about the motor probaly draws more current than the 9 volt battery has is why it got hot.I will be watching your progress.maybe another corroded wire connection somewhere.

Finally broke down and ordered the repair manual. Knowing Neatphoto, it will be in Japanese.
