The Tomosy books come to mind right off, though they are somwhat light reading, as he tends to gloss over specifics. But they are good references for certain procedures that can be used on many cameras. His, and other books can be purchased at http://www.micro-tools.com/store/home.aspx PF |

Ed Romney wrote a few repair guides, and there was one titled 'Trade Secrets: Basic Training in Camera Repair'. He was perhaps just a little bit odd, but the book is worth seeking out. It is available as a pdf on the 'net if you google for it. Regards, Chris |

Tomosy's books are great because he encourages a can-do attitude of making or modifying tools and also useful test equipment. Volumes 1&2 are good value from Amazon. Secondhand copies are listed in Abebooks. |

Just click the "Books" button at the top of the page. You can read Henry's reviews of the books mentioned, and if you buy them through the links posted, I think a small amount comes back to the administrators to help cover their costs of keeping up this forum. |

Something I began doing about four years ago was collecting pdfs of factory repair manuals. Often times all it takes is a bit of googling to uncover one or more. Now it must be said that often these repair manuals are not very helpful because there ain't much hand-holding going on with them. But they have the good, hard, model-specific data that one often needs. I've lost count, but I probably have upwards of forty or more pdfs of factory repair guides now. |
