Just bought an S3 and it's in pretty good condition. The meter works, and is accurate, which I'm happy about, but the rangefinder is off. The rangefinder aligns to infinity at the 15ft mark. I took the top plate off, and looked around at things and only managed to find the vertical alignment, but it looks like the mechanism that changes the horizontal alignment is underneath the rangefinder. A search on this site (and others) has lead to the knowledge that the screw to alter the horizontal alignment is under that screw in the film chamber underneath the viewfinder. My question is what size screwdriver do I need to fix this? I'd hate to have to send this in for a repair for something that seems so simple. And I really want to use this camera. Thanks for any help |

Any small "jewelers" screwdriver set should do. Whatever size it takes to get the access screw out, you just need the next size down to get at the adjustment screw. But be careful that the drivers sit well in the screw heads, or you might slip and mess something up. Sometimes, you need a pair of small slip joint pliers to get some torque on the driver handle to loosen the access screw. PF |

Thanks. I got the access screw off no problem, but I had to use the smallest screwdriver I had to do it. Just ordered a set that goes down two sizes smaller. Looks like I also dislodged the spring on the frame counter so now it resets to just after 36, but I suppose there's worse I could've done than that. |
