Hello, I have just got hold of a near mint Yashica FR1, the only problem with it is the self timer lever just droops. I managed to get it moving very slowly when I first used the camera by tapping the shutter button which made it buzz but when I tried the self timer again it just refused to move back & now the lever just hangs. Is there an easy way to fix this by say, removing the base & getting a cannula needle to inject a drop of oil on the assembly. Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks for the reply,it sounds a bit complicated having never taken a camera apart before & I don't want to mess this one up as the rest of it appears to work OK. |

Well, there is a "cheaters" short cut you might try. Most FR's have a small round access hole covered by a thin aluminum disk. It's just above the self timer lever and it can be exposed by peeling back the leatherette. The disk is glued on and can be easily removed. You could try getting a couple of drops of lighter fluid or equivalent into the timer mechanism. NEVER try this with oil. |
