Hello, i am trying to replace the viewing lens on my Yashica MAT 124G. How do i do that? I have already changed the back, taken out + clean the taking lens and even worked on the inside of the camera (light seals + light meter). But i am at a lost on how to take the viewing lens off... I'm just trying to replace the front part and already bought a replacement. Please advise... The only thing i can see is unscrewing the rear element holder, but that wouldn't help me unscrew the viewing lens...? Thanks! |

If you remove the front fascia panel (there are screws under the leatherette, which is brittle and will undoubtedly go all to pieces when you try to get under it), you will find a set screw on the side (I think it's the top) of the viewing lens barrel. Remove this set screw, and you can unscrew the viewing lens out of the camera. |

I use morocco grain pigskin that I buy (once every 20 years or so) from Tandy Leather, I find it easier to work with than vinyl. Micro-Tools has some nice looking leatherette with adhesive backing. There's also cameraleather.com and aki-asahi.com, both of which have good materials. |

The guy at Cameraleather.com told me he will sell only the piece you need and not make you buy a whole kit. |
