Well, my Edixa Flex project is almost finished. I've got the shutter working smoothly again, and the mirror issue is fixed. All that's left is to put the bottom cover back on, but there's a small problem. When I first pulled it off, these two small pieces fell out (see first pic). It's been my assumption all along, that they were stacked on top of one another and somehow fitted into the space where the film rewind button goes, as a shim or something. I'm not absolutely certain of this, since I didn't discover them until a little while after removing the bottom cover, but it doesn't make much sense to me that they could have been anywhere else. They have some staining/residue on them that one time could have been some sort of adhesive, or could have been lubricant that migrated, but whatever it was is completely dry now. It's a bit puzzling, because the staining on them doesn't match as closely as I would expect if they were stacked. Nor is there a trace on the camera body that says, "We were here." The next several pics show what the space around the rewind button looks like, and the last pic shows one of the little pieces dropped in there to give a sense of scale. Can anyone hazard a guess (based on having seen something similar, hopefully) as to where these little guys are supposed to go? |

Here is the set on Flickr. Sorry for the long URL again. Still trying to figure out how to do the short link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/16916627@N06/sets/72157635503285780/ |

looks like it is really one part which broke in two. Does the camera work without those pieces? |

Glad you got it going! Those pieces look to me like they were once one piece, which broke in the middle. I can't tell where it would have fitted, though. You can hyperlink by copying & pasting this: yyyy Then, replace the xxxx with: http://www.flickr.com/photos/16916627@N06/sets/72157635503285780/ And replace the yyyy with whatever you want the link to say. |

It is a few years back, and I don't have any pictures, but I seem to remember my Edixaflex had some bits of metal glued to the camera body next to the fixing screws as spacers for the bottom cover. I remember thinking how crude it was, and being surprised they hadn't used washers. Is there any trace of glue on the body or the cover? |
