Hi,
I have a Canon AL-1 that hasn't been used in the last 10-15 years. If I remember correctly it had nothing wrong with it, but now if I put batteries in the battery check works, but nothing else. No shutter release, no blinking light in timer mode, no light meter, no focus confirm.
Also, I've checked the solenoid in the bottom, it's not stuck and if I trip it manually the shutter works fine.
Any ideas what the problem could be or how to fix it?
Thanks

These cameras had capacitors and when they get old they flat out quit. Not really worth fixing in my opinion if you pay to have it done

I was thinking about fixing it myself. I can't see any capacitors from the bottom, but I didn't want to take the top of without having any idea what I'm looking for.
Since then I found the service repair guide online, but it doesn't show very clearly what's inside.
I'm thinking about trying to open it up more, maybe I'll find a flat capacitor or something that could cause the problem.
