I have a problem with the meter switches in a Lynx 14e and a Lynx 5000 requiring excessive pressure to make electrical contact. Is there a way to restore normal operation to these switches?
First try cleaning the switch with electrical contact cleaner. That usually seems to help. Sometimes, I've been able to bend the contact slightly to make better contact. You have to remove the front panel to get to the switch.
You simply have to screw off the battery cover. If this is not simple probably the (very fine) thread of that cover has got stuck due to corrosive liquid from leaking batteries. In these cases unscrew it with suitable pliers. On one Lynx14E the battery cover was so stuck in its thread that the threaded insert of the top cover came off with the cap.
Sometimes soaking the thread with water or a solution of sodium may help.
