Hi- First, check the batteries. This camera does not work without batteries. Check to see they have the correct voltage, and the battery compartment is clean. If this still does not work, you can try to trip the shutter using the cable release (I think the XR-10 has this on the side of the lens mount like the Pentax P3. If you can trip the shutter using the cable release, the problem is in the shutter button. here is a link to the instruction manual
