Hello All. I would be glad of some guidance. The shutter speed indicated in the viewfinder is fairly accurate in the display values. But the auto mode doesn't fire at anywhere near any of the values, it is very erratic with the actual speeds it fires at. Manual operation is ok. I have cleaned the contacts underneath the rewind lever and this has made no difference..Thanks, John.

First question is, are you checking this with film in the camera? Olympus AUTO speeds are determined by the light reflecting off of the film surface; if there is no film, the meter is trying to read light off of the glossy black pressure plate and it will give very slow, and erratic, speeds.

Hi Rick, Thanks for your reply. There is a film in the camera. If the display shows a reading of say 1/8 sec, the shutter speed will go at maybe 1/125th sec.
