I have a Minolta X-370, the camera was working fine. It was taking some good pictures. when i was done with it i placed it in my camera bag, the next time i went to pull it out the light meter turned on went to take my picture the meter went off and the shutter wouldn't advance. i was told that my shutter might be stuck open. my question is, is there any way i myself can get the shutter to release. any suggestions would greatly help. I don't have much money due to being a college student. thanks |

Hi Sam: I had one and the battery was weak and had to be replaced. Not sure what battery it had. While at it clean the battery contacts. Don |

Sam, I have an X300s (very similar to yours) and that developed a similar (or maybe the same) problem as your X370. When I turned it on, the meter would work when I just partly depress the shutter release button. Then when I press it all the way, the meter leds would just turn off and nothing would happen. The problem turned out a dried out capacitor. To get to it you need to take off the bottom plate and replace it (some soldering required). Here is a picture I found of an X700 with the bottom plate removed. The capacitor on your camera is essentially in the same place: http://www.twid.de/x700/P1010605.jpg The replacement capacitor is not easy to find. I may have the capacitor you need. If so, I'll send to you at my cost (most of these are $1 or less) plus the cost of mailing. There are capacitors in the top half which go bad, also. It may not just be the one at the bottom. If you need one, please send an e:mail to [email protected] and put something like Minolta X capacitor in the RE: line. I'll need the value of the capacitor you need, also. Jon |
