Hello all. I just picked up a new in sealed box Contax Distagon 28 f2.8. It has one minor (hopefully) problem. The aperature ring is off one click. By this I'm saying when the ring is stopped to f2.8 the iris is open to f4, at the other end when you reach f16 it is at f22 with one click remaining that does nothing. Rather than do my own homework, I thought I would put it out there in case someone has experienced this before (lazy I know). The lens shows zero evidence of being opened before. I have not had a need to open up any of my lenses to date. Usually with my more modern (relatively) gear I use a repair shop for this sort of thing. Keeping my repairs to old rangefinders and TLR's and minor issues with my SLR's. It's time for that to change, so maybe someone can push me in the right direction.
Many Thanks in advance
Andy

If you are correct and the lens is new/unused, then the fault must have occurred on the assembly line. This may just be a miss-positioning of the aperture ring - thus easily corrected, or could be due to an incorrect machining sequence - difficult/impossible to correct without spare parts.

I have no experience/repair manuals for this lens, so cannot give you any help in that direction. My preference is to return 'new' items to an official repair agent, just in case parts need replacing.
