Hello everybody,

I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good place to send a Carl Zeiss 20mm/f2.8 Flektogon for repair. It is the MC, m42 mount version.

I placed a cheap screw-on hood on the lens and unfortunately the hood got stuck. When I tried removing the hood, the helicoid started to unscrew from the barrel of lens. I got the hood off and screwed back the helicoid into the lens. All seemed find until I went to use the lens. It wouldn't focus. The focusing ring would turn but nothing happened.

I disassembled the lens to see if I could make any sense of the problem. I reassembled it and it still won't focus and now the aperture only goes down to f15 instead of f22. I figured that I'm way in over my head on this one and I would like to send it to a professional repair person.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Fernando

Fernando

it would give us some help if you could tell us where you are.

the cost of air-maiing a lens can be pretty high (and potentially slow)

i know of a good guy who is now based in Canada and can recommend a couple of good facilities in the UK.

Stephen,

Thank you so much for your response. I live in Canada. I would very much appreciate the contact information for these repair people. Perhaps, I'm still in a state of shock but at the moment, I'm not too concerned about costs - I love the lens and I just want to get it fixed.

If you rather email me the contact info instead of posting it here, feel free to send me a private message.

Thanks again,
Fernando

Fernando

i have sent you a private e-mail giving you details of a Canada based repairer.

I've gone private as I don't want to publicise his e-mail address without his permission
