Has anyone ever tackled a contarex lens?
I have a 135mm f4 sonnar with a very stiff helical. I have tried the usual "methods" (slight heat and repeated movement) to no real avail. Any ideas on how to start my disassembly?
Also does anyone know if Zeiss used some sort of thread locker on these lenses as I tried to remove the rear mount and only risked stripping screws! What should I use to loosen these? Rosonol(lighter fluid)?, Acetone?, glue remover? I have serviced quite a few cameras in the past and have never found screws as tight as these...

Try applying heat via a small electric soldering iron, before using a proper fitting screwdriver bit on the mount screws.
Acetone will soften most substances used to 'lock' screws or components. However if the lens has any plastic or painted parts, you risk damaging the lens if the acetone application is not done with care. |
