I THINK I KILLED IT - YASHICA-12

I recently purchased this camera threw ebay and paid very little for it, i did not think i would be getting much of a camera anyway.
sure enough i received the camera and it looked like hell! must have been a user for sure. but not only that the crank did not move? i figured why not rip it apart i did not pay much anyway.
i discovered if i held this fork looking thing back (under crank cover)it advanced the film, oh ya i am thinking. but every time i reset it it fell back into place and locked the crank!
I TOOK IT OUT (fork looking thing)and put it back together.camera still looks awful but i am turning the crank and advancing film.but i have to make sure i stop cranking after one full turn because it does not stop. this seems to be the only issue now , everything is working proper other than the crank not stopping after one frame. question is does anyone know if this camera can work this way? seems to me it should.
thank you for reading my story and if any if anyone has a answer please.

You're probably okay.... you may have some frame spacing problems, since you have to guess how far you've advanced the film. If you got it cheap, I'd just give it a try and see if you feel like you can live with the results.

sure, i am thinking give it a go and see. but for now i think i may see if i can do a little for the cosmetics, man its ugly! thinking if a little paint and alcohol will maybe help it out a little.

i figure someone must have loved this camera for the reason, its just worn out. maybe its capable of beautiful photos..
